What you can expect when applying for a business loan or overdraft with Veritas Union Bank

You can refer to the loan information and minimum lending criteria to assess if your request is eligible. This explains what the criteria and features of each of our lending products are. Our help and support hub contains FAQs, information and advice if you are unsure if your enquiry meets our lending criteria.

Step 1 - We will review your Enquiry Form

We will aim to respond within 7 - 14 days of receiving your initial inquiry.
If your request does not meet our minimum lending criteria your enquiry will not be progressed, and you will be provided with an explanation.
If your request meets our lending criteria you will receive an email requesting the information detailed in our new loans checklist.
Please gather all the required information and provide it in a single email to us.

Step 2 - Once we have received all of the requested information a member of the team will assess your request

At this point we will contact you to discuss your request and answer any questions you may have. Please note that we do not offer financial advice.
We will let you know if we are able to progress to an application or not. If we are unable to proceed with an application, we will let you know why.

Step 3 - We will send you the following documents to begin a formal application

Heads of Terms – This document will outline the indicative loan terms. Please note, all fees payable will be detailed in the Head of Terms.

Step 4 - Return documents

Please return the signed Heads of Terms and completed Lending Information Request Form

Once we have received your application, we will assess and respond with a formal offer or decline within 4 weeks. However, timings are dependent on circumstance and may take longer.

Step 5 - We will formally assess your application

Once we have completed the steps within ‘Phase 1’ your application is ready to be formally assessed.

Step 6 - We will inform you of the outcome of your application

After reviewing and assessing your application we’ll let you know the outcome.

Step 7 - If your application is successful

If your application is successful we will use the information provided in the Lending Information Request Form to complete the required checks on the business and associated parties. If required, we will also provide a copy of our instruction to solicitors to help you obtain legal quotes.

Step 8 – You will receive a formal offer

We will issue you with a formal offer which will outline the final terms offered by us, along with any other documents required

Step 9 - Please sign and return a copy of the formal offer and any additional required documents

We recommend you take independent legal advice before signing.

We will aim to complete the final phase of the process within a few weeks. However, times will vary depending on circumstances and may take longer.

Step 10 - If a valuation and/or legal work is required within the formal offer document, we will instruct solicitors and/or valuers.

We maintain a panel of approved valuers which you can select from
If required in the formal offer, you will need to provide us with details of your chosen valuer and/or solicitor from our approved valuer panel. You will be responsible for all legal and valuation costs. You will need to agree the fees directly with the valuer and/or solicitor.
The valuer will submit their completed valuation report to us
Please bear in mind that we will invoice you for the fee
You will need to pay the valuation fee

Step 11 - You will be required to address and satisfy conditions as outlined in the formal offer

These must be completed to our satisfaction before we can release the funds.
The formal offer will outline who is responsible for completing each condition, this is typically a combination of you and your solicitor.
We will confirm when all of the conditions have been completed to our satisfaction

Step 12 - Congratulations! You can now access your funds

We will send you confirmation of your new facility and a repayment schedule
We will contact you periodically to undertake a review of the facility
